🦃 Happy Thanksgiving from Shepherdstown Elementary! 🦃
Since we met our canned food drive goal, Mr. Echelmeier got into the holiday spirit in a fun turkey costume! Wishing all of our Wildcats and their families a joyful and safe break! See you next Tuesday!

November Community Meeting Highlights!
Our Wildcats had an amazing morning today! We learned about proper handwashing from Mrs. Walker 🧼✋, reviewed our counseling lessons with Mrs. Lawler 📚💛, and interviewed Mrs. Pehanich and Mrs. Hennessy 🎤. We also recognized our November Super Paws recipients 🐾🏅, enjoyed a fun skit on how to play games 🎲😂, and ended with a wonderful performance from our Wildcat Singers 🎶🎵.

Our Wildcats reached an incredible milestone by earning 2,000 Wildcat Way tickets 🎟️🎟️! To celebrate, students across the school enjoyed a fun-filled game day this morning, full of laughter, teamwork, and friendly competition.🎲🐾💛

🌸🦋 2nd Grade Adventure: Hershey Butterfly Gardens 🐛🌼
Our 2nd graders visited Hershey Gardens, where they explored plants, learned how seeds grow, and spent time in the butterfly atrium. What a perfect day of hands-on learning!

Grief is a journey no child should have to walk alone, and we’re committed to being a caring, supportive community for every student. 💙

Our third graders are partner reading during their CKLA unit, Fur, Fins, and Feathers – Animal Classification! Students work together to read, discuss, and learn all about fascinating animals. 🦁🐢🦉
It’s amazing to see our Wildcats supporting each other, sharing ideas, and building strong reading skills while exploring the animal kingdom! 🌟📚

Our third graders had a hands-on STEM experience in the library with Mr. Roberts, exploring design and problem-solving. Students planned, built, and tested their own paper airplanes, making adjustments to improve distance and accuracy.
A great opportunity to think like engineers and have fun while learning! 🔧📏💡

During What I Need (WIN) time, students work in the way that best supports their learning—whether that’s 👩🏫 small-group instruction with a teacher, 🤝 practicing skills with peers, or 🧠 working independently.
Today, first graders in Mrs. Tamosaitis’s class participated in a reading game to practice words from their CKLA unit. 🔤 It was a focused and productive way to build their skills. 💙🐾

We are grateful for you — your commitment, your care, and your belief in every Wildcat’s inherent worth and potential. Thank you!
🎨 Please help us also celebrate and thank Broad Street Elementary School's Jonah, Vivienne, and Rahil for the hand drawn artwork (and smiles!).
Be sure to check back later today for a special video message from Dr. Bitz.

A huge thank you to the families in the medical field who visited our first graders to share their expertise during the CKLA “Nose to Toes” Culminating Presentation! Your time and knowledge made learning about the human body so exciting and memorable for our students.
A special thanks to our amazing first grade teachers for planning such a fun and engaging day — the students had a blast! 🐾

Our Thanksgiving Food Drive was a huge success thanks to your generosity! Together, we collected nearly 300 canned goods to support families in our community.
And because our Wildcats went above and beyond… stay tuned for a special surprise — someone will be dressing up as a turkey to celebrate your amazing efforts!
We are so grateful for your support.

🧠🦶 First Grade CKLA “From Nose to Toes” Celebration!
🏥 Our 1st Graders stepped into the role of “doctor” during a medical-themed day, bringing their “From Nose to Toes” Human Body unit to life. Students enjoyed hands-on health activities and creative crafts—a wonderful way to wrap up CKLA Unit 2 and celebrate all they’ve learned!

From teachers and students sharing smiles in the classroom to friends enjoying recess outside, connections are what make Shep special!
