My name is Cara Pehanich.  I have been with the Mechanicsburg Area School District for 19 years.    This is my 10th year as a reading specialist at Shepherdstown.  Prior to that, I taught Elementary Gifted Support, 1st grade, and 2nd grade.

 

My family includes my husband Nick, sons Ryan and Ben, and our mini goldendoodle, Kody.  We moved into the district so that our oldest could start school in MASD and he’s now a 5th grader at Elmwood!  Our youngest is a 2nd grader at Shepherdstown.  We couldn’t be more excited to be a Wildcat family! :)

 

I believe that learning to read is one of the most magical experiences that should be enjoyed by every student.  As an avid reader myself, I love sharing not only the “how” of reading, but also the “why”.
